Job Details
The Department of Civil, Environmental, and Geospatial Engineering at Michigan Technological University invites applications for an assistant professor tenure-track faculty position in the area of structural engineering. Applicants for the position are required to have a B.S. and a Ph.D. in civil engineering or a closely related discipline. Priority research areas include structural asset management, structural rehabilitation, bridge design and management, and artificial intelligence (AI) enabled civil structural design. The university’s Tech Forward initiatives focus on building research in autonomous and intelligent systems, data science, natural resources, water and energy, and sustainability and resilience. Michigan Tech also has a variety of research centers and institutes that promote interdisciplinary research, including the Michigan Tech Transportation Institute, the Great Lakes Research Center, and the Institute of Computing and Cybersystems.

The Department of Civil, Environmental, and Geospatial Engineering currently has 29 faculty members, 580 undergraduate students, and 132 graduate students. Externally funded research is approximately $3.6M, and the Department is on a trajectory to double its graduate enrollment over the next five years. The CEGE Department has many teaching and research labs with state-of-the-art facilities and connections with industry to support student education and research. Michigan Tech's graduates are eagerly sought by industry because of their hands-on training and rigorous coursework.
