Generally expected to work between the hours of 9:00am and 17:00pm, Monday to Friday, unless site working hours demands otherwise.

Job Summary

The Senior Engineer will predominantly use our Advanced Continuous Seismic Wave (ACSW) testing system (under exclusive licence in the UK) to establish the stiffness and compaction of site materials before and after treatment. The Engineer will also make recommendations for environmental / geotechnical reuse and treatment of soils on site. Sending soils to landfill will be a last resort and the removal of geotechnically or environmentally unsuitable waste soils will only occur where absolutely necessary. Work will be office and site based and the Engineer will need to be as comfortable with working outside on location, as well as producing detailed technical reports from the office. There will also be an element of geotechnical engineering, such as settlement analysis of foundations, floor slabs and hardstanding's which will be undertaken in an assistive role the other senior designers.

Responsibilities

The key responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to:

Following and updating onsite Health and Safety protocols.

Ensuring Materials Management Plans are adhered to.

Managing junior staff.

Assisting in tendering and pricing.

Meeting clients and suppliers.

Ensuring that all work is delivered in line with procedures and processes and to the highest safety, health and environmental standards.

Maintain compliance.

Assist in implementing mental health and wellbeing provision in The Company.

Provide support to line managers.

Ensuring health and safety in complex and often hazardous working environments.

Duties

Duties include but are not limited to:

Carrying out ACSW Field testing.

Prepare and review ACSW reports for review by the management.

Review 3rd Party Ground Investigation and Remediation Strategy reports.

Undertake the production of Materials Management Plans for movement of sitematerials.

Manage and Supervise Materials Management Plans during earthworks.

Track the movement of materials using GNSS GPS equipment.

Carry out basic settlement analyses using proprietary software.

Carry out basic cut and fill analyses using proprietary software.

Carry out basic slope stability analyses using proprietary software

Fieldwork including Soil logging, sampling and environmental monitoring (air, water).

Directing subcontractors including plant, machinery and organising transport for movement of soils.

Writing technical reports.

Maintaining and servicing specialist testing apparatus.

Build and maintain effective working relationships with clients, partners, suppliers and staff.

Qualifications and skills

Minimum degree qualification in and appropriate geological or geotechnical discipline (MSc desirable).

Experience in remediation or environmental contracting/consulting, or graduate experience (desirable).

Working with adherence to policies and procedures.

Knowledge and experience of compliance and accreditation.

Data collection, interpretation and writing technical reports.

Experience of taking soil / water samples, management of sample storage and dispatch to geotechnical and chemical testing laboratories.

Geoenvironmental software experience and advantage.

Excellent communication and organisational skills.

Fit and able to work both on construction sites and in an office.

Full clean driving license.

Excellent time management skills and ability to work under own steam.

Ability to produce high quality reports.

Earthworks and heavy civils experience (desirable).

Relevant CSCS qualification (desirable)
