Job Description:
Do you have a solid understanding of applied electromagnetics? If you do then this could be the opportunity for you. We are looking to recruit an Electromagnetic Environmental Effects (E3) Engineer to join our team within the Helicopter Division based in Yeovil, Somerset.
Please note that due to the nature of the work this role will be predominantly site based.
What You'll Do:
As part of the E3 team you will manage and implement activities required to design, develop and qualify system installations and rotary wing platforms in response to customer requirements and certification regulations, for electromagnetic effects. This could involve working with regulatory agency representatives and customers to establish compliance strategy, system/ installation design activities within multi-disciplinary project teams, vendor qualification management and witnessing, leading varied platform trials and analysis activities and compiling evidence in support of certification/ qualification.
What we need from you:
Ideally, you will have knowledge and experience in the following aspects of E3 and have a solid understanding of applied electromagnetics with Degree/Masters/PhD in a relevant area.
Certification/Qualification; CS27/CS29/Def Stan 00-970.
Aircraft system installation design and compliance demonstration considering antenna siting and radar cross-section, bonding/ EMC/ HIRF/ EED/ Static/ Lightning indirect effects/ direct effects zoning and protection; ED-107A, ED-81, ED-91, ED-113, AC20-158/136, SAE equivalents, Def Stan 59-411 & 59-114.
Vendor qualification; DO-160, Def Stan 59-411, MIL STD 461.
Leading platform EMC/ E3 trials activities.
Management and analysis of Radiation hazards to Fuel (HERF), Personnel (HERP), Ordnance(HERO), Electromagnetic Pulse (EMP), Portable Electronic Devices, TEMPEST.
Use of Electromagnetic Simulation tools such as CST to support design and platform analyses.The hiring manager for this role is dedicated to the training and development of the team. There are multiple opportunities available at varying levels of seniority and complexity. Depending on the successful candidates' experience, there is potential to take on additional responsibilities and develop into Chief Project role, where you will have technical autonomy for a helicopter product type for all aspects of E3/EMC. Compliance Verification Engineer opportunities may also be available for the correct candidate.
