Our civil engineering clients bring a diverse portfolio of work from site developmentschemes to transport networks, and from building projects to water-based solutions. The civil engineering skills necessary to deliver this work vary from flood risk strategies and shaping masterplans, to detailed designs for roads and drainage.

Arups specialists cover the entire range of civil engineering needs. For many projects, our specialism is the ability to coordinate multiple expertise to deliver designs that realise our clients visions and exceed their sustainability aspirations.
The OpportunityWe are looking for a chartered senior civil engineer, with broad skills in civil engineering to join our successful infrastructure team in Sheffield. This team includes 17 people who have a background in project management, engineering, modelling and drawing. You will join a close knit team based in Sheffield that work collaboratively as part of our wider 130 people strong team across the North West and Yorkshire sub-region.
You will play an role in all stages of our projects, across a number of sectors. Projects are wide ranging and currently or recently include city redevelopment, retail schemes, new lineside civils along the Transpennine Route Upgrade programme, large modern factory installations, amended urban highway schemes and masterplanning for large developments.
You will be expected to have a good record of delivering complex schemes with associated experienceof client and contractor liaison skills and proven Project Management skills. Contract administration skills will be desirableas will as experienceof undertaking Principal Designer duties in accordance with the CDM Regulations.
As a senior engineer we will expect you to contribute to the team management and to help with the professional development of junior staffIs this role right for you? You will have experiencein project management & general civil engineering design which may span across any of the following areas:
  • Terrain modelling and earthworks design
  • Flood risk assessment and drainage solutions
  • Intelligent utility modelling solutions and coordination
  • Civil engineering in a rail environment
  • Street and highways design.
A knowledge of structural engineering design that may include retaining walls and underground infrastructure would be an advantage but notessential
