Control Director (Chief Engineer)

Salary range: $125,000 to $205,000

Maricopa County is seeking a dedicated and visionary engineer to serve as its Flood Control Director (Chief Engineer). This is a fantastic opportunity to work for one of the fastest growing counties in the country and is Arizona’s political and economic center. Maricopa County’s sunny weather and its great outdoors make it one of the most coveted places in America to live.


The Flood Control District is responsible for the design, construction, inspection, operation, and maintenance of flood control projects, floodplain use permitting, flood hazard studies, flood warnings, and other related activities that keep the citizens of Maricopa County safe and informed. The Director has oversight of an annual budget of approximately $100M.


Candidates are required to have a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Water Resources, or a related field. Candidates should also have ten years of increasingly responsible engineering experience with five years of management experience and need to be registered in Arizona as a Professional Civil Engineer.
