Maritime Naval Architecture, Structural & Propulsion Engineering Opportunities

QinetiQ is developing at an incredible pace year on year and we're not slowing down. This is an exciting phase in our history. We are constantly on the lookout for talented individuals to join our Naval Architecture, Structural and Propulsion Engineering Teams for QinetiQ's UK Defence Maritime division.

Positions are based at our Bristol, Rosyth and Haslar Sites, Europe's largest hydrodynamic marine technology facility. The facilities include the Ocean Basin used to test ship and submarine models for seakeeping and manoeuvring, and a 270-metre-long Towing Tank, used to test models resistance and propulsion.

If you're interested in joining us, now or in the future, we'd love to hear from you! If your skills fit one of our opportunities, we'll be in contact. If we don't have a role that's right for you at the moment, we'll keep your CV on file for possible opportunities in the future.

What do our Maritime Teams do?

We deliver bespoke solutions that deliver novel, unique and exceptional outcomes in all areas of ship & submarine design, hydrodynamic testing and technical consultancy. With access to a large and diverse team of specialists as well as over £100million of advanced test facilities and equipment, our defence and commercial maritime customers know that we will deliver operational, technical and competitive advantage.

Once a baseline performance has been established, our designers will use physical and computational model testing to help optimise the design to meet key performance requirements.

Combining experimental, computational and software tools (including Paramarine - our internationally acclaimed Naval Architecture Toolset), we ensure speed and accuracy of evaluation and even greater technical understanding of vessel performance.

You could be working on a variety of projects such as the Maritime Strategic Capability Agreement (MSCA), a renewed £259 million contract with the Submarine Delivery Agency. The MSCA delivers critical sovereign capabilities that contribute to the assurance of the UK's ability to design, build and safely operate the Royal Navy's surface and subsurface fleet, including the UK's continuous at sea deterrent.

New to Maritime Engineering?

In your first role, have some experience or feel you have transferable skills from another professional role? Your talents may be a good match for our team.

We recruit professionals at all levels and have an on-boarding process that will provide you with the essential knowledge you need. We invest in our community and will support you to complete professional qualifications that align with your current and future career aspirations.

Opportunities for mid-career professionals

If you're a mid-career professional, you'll be applying your expertise right from day one. Whatever your specialism or background, you can expect ongoing development to help you excel and advance. This includes expert training and mentoring, with increased emphasis on self-development and on-the-job training.

Opportunities for highly experienced professionals

The more capable and experienced you are the more you will be able to influence and shape the environment and support development of your colleagues. The sheer breadth and depth of expertise across QinetiQ means that whatever your own ability and experience there will be something new to learn.

The QinetiQ Fellow scheme recognises accomplished technical, scientific and engineering leaders, individuals who achieve national level recognition in their field or international recognition for Senior Fellows.

Please note that all applicants must be eligible for SC clearance, as a minimum.
