Structural Engineer/ Permanent / Peterborough - salary: up to £45K dependant on experience.
Position 1 Recruitment are looking for an experienced Structural Engineer to join our client, a successful Civil and Structural Engineering Construction Consultancy firm based in Peterborough.
As a Structural Engineer you will be involved in both new build and refurbishment projects, working from early planning to end delivery phase. This job comes with an opportunity for progression to the management team.
Role and responsibilities:
* Your typical day will normally comprise leading your project team in the development of Structural schemes from concept to detailed design in accordance with the current standards, industry best practices and our internal Quality Management System.
* This could involve the production or checking of design calculations, scheme details, and drawings for new build or refurbishments/conversion projects across multiple sectors and of various sizes, incorporating all principal materials.
* You will compile or assist in the production of technical specifications and general project information. Part of the day-to-day work may also include the management and supervision of schemes of varying size, developing, and agreeing design fundamentals with other members of the project team, the development of fee proposals and assisting less experienced members of staff with technical problems.
* Occasionally you will need to undertake site investigations / inspections, represent the company at meetings and liaise with external project team members to meet project deadlines.
Structural Engineer will have a Degree in Civil Engineering with proven experience in structural design. Experience with Tekla Structural Designer, Tedds, Strap, Quikport or equivalent software. Experience with, and or knowledge of concrete, steel, masonry, and timber superstructure design.
The successful candidate will have had exposure to the design of the following: o road and / or footbridge bridges, o educational facilities o industrial sector projects o commercial sector projects o refurbishment schemes. Experience interpreting Soil Investigation Reports and substructure design and a basic understanding of drainage and infrastructure scheme concepts.
This is a full-time, permanent position offering a competitive salary within the industry and will reflect your experience and qualifications. This role comes with flexible working options, subject to passing probation period.
