We are looking for a technically strong, proactive and motivated senior civil engineer to join our team based in our South Coast Office. We are currently based in Winchester, but as part of our growth strategy, we will soon be moving to new offices in Southampton. This is an unique opportunity to take a leading role in growing Arup's offering in the South Coast region. The ability to call into question and bring new ideas to the way we work is expected along with excellent team working and partnership skills.
This a growing and diverse civil engineering team always looking to enhance the environment and do the right thing. Sustainability and digital transformation is always front of mind, and we deliver this through an excellent variety of work across a number of sectors.
The Winchester/Southampton team also works very closely with civil engineering teams from Bristol and Cardiff where resources, skills and opportunities are shared to reduce workload peaks and enhance our offering.

As a minimum requirement we would expect that the suitable applicant to be Chartered with IEng or CEng Professional Registration status through ICE or IStructE, or other relevant body.
Furthermore, you will possess a strong academic background ideally with MEng or Civil Engineering-based degree.
You will be able to demonstrate strong technical experience across most or all of the following: flood risk, drainage, sustainable drainage, earthworks, pavements, utilities, street design, constraints mapping and infrastructure master planning.
We are looking for the following skills and experience;
- Planning and statutory approval process.
- Commercial knowledge such as fee proposals and monitoring.
- Workload planning.
- Mentoring and teaching.
- Ability to write high quality reports and specifications.
- Some contract knowledge, NEC or similar.
