Location: South West England, Devon, Plymouth

Job Duties:
The Senior Structural Engineer will primarily work in an office environment, with occasional site visits to construction projects. The role may involve working on multiple projects simultaneously, requiring the ability to manage time effectively and meet deadlines. The engineer may need to collaborate with professionals from different disciplines and attend project meetings. The work may occasionally involve physical exertion during site inspections. The engineer should be prepared to travel to different project locations as required.

Job Duties:
- Designing and overseeing the construction of various structural projects, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations
- Analysing structural systems and components to determine their strength, stability, and safety
- Preparing and reviewing technical drawings, specifications, and calculations
- Collaborating with architects, contractors, and other professionals to develop effective structural solutions
- Performing site visits and inspections to assess existing structures and provide recommendations for repairs or improvements
- Managing and coordinating the work of junior engineers and technicians
- Conducting structural analysis using software and other relevant tools
- Participating in project meetings and providing technical expertise
- Ensuring projects are completed within budget and schedule
- Keeping up-to-date with advancements in structural engineering and incorporating best practises into projects
- Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering
- Chartered Engineer status with a recognised professional engineering institution
- Proven experience as a Structural Engineer in a senior role
- Strong knowledge of structural analysis, design principles, and relevant codes and standards
- Proficiency in using relevant engineering software and tools
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
- Effective communication and interpersonal abilities
- Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities
- Master's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering
- Experience working on large-scale construction projects
- Familiarity with Building Information Modelling (BIM) software
- Knowledge of sustainable and environmentally friendly construction practises
- Experience mentoring and developing junior engineers
