As a Civil Engineer with Sawyer & Associates, Inc., you will play a key role in the planning, design, and execution of various residential and commercial engineering projects. You will collaborate with a talented team of professionals and contribute to the success of projects from conception to completion.

Duties and Responsibilities

Project Planning and Design:

  • Develop project plans and specifications.
  • Conduct feasibility studies and site investigations.
  • Prepare and review engineering drawings using industry-standard software.

Due Diligence:

  • Conduct thorough due diligence investigations to assess the legal, environmental, and physical aspects of the land.
  • Verify property titles, survey boundaries, and assess any potential issues that may affect development plans.

Land Planning and Design:

  • Work with architects, engineers, and urban planners to design a development plan that aligns with zoning regulations and community needs.
  • Develop layouts with considerations for residential, commercial, or mixed-use spaces.

Obtaining Approvals:

  • Navigate the regulatory and permitting processes to secure necessary approvals from local government authorities.|
  • Engage with community stakeholders and address concerns through public hearings and meetings.

Infrastructure Development:

  • Plan and oversee the development of necessary infrastructure, such as roads, utilities, drainage systems, and public spaces.
  • Coordinate with contractors and construction teams to implement the infrastructure plan.

Risk Management:

  • Identify and mitigate potential risks associated with the development project.
  • Anticipate challenges and develop contingency plans to address unforeseen issues.

Financial Management:

  • Manage the financial aspects of the development, including budgeting, cost estimation, and financial forecasting.
  • Monitor expenses and ensure the project remains within budget constraints.

Environmental Sustainability:

  • Incorporate environmentally sustainable practices into the development process, such as green building techniques, conservation measures, and wetlands mitigation.

Construction Oversight:

  • Monitor construction activities to ensure compliance with design specifications.
  • Provide technical support during construction phases.
  • Conduct site visits and inspections.

Collaboration:

  • Work closely with interdisciplinary teams to integrate civil engineering components into overall project designs.
  • Coordinate with clients, contractors, and regulatory agencies.

Quality Assurance:

  • Perform engineering calculations and analysis.
  • Ensure projects adhere to applicable codes and regulations.

Documentation:

  • Prepare project reports, documentation, and progress updates.
  • Maintain accurate records of project-related correspondence.

 

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or a related field.

Professional Engineer (PE) license is preferred.

Experience in civil engineering, with a focus on residential and mixed-use development.

Proficiency in AutoCAD, Civil 3D, GIS, and other relevant engineering software.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
