Role: Technical Health & Safety Engineer (Offshore Wind)

Location: Remote - Occasional Travel to Scotland for meetings

Start Date: ASAP

Duration: Initial 6 Months + Possible Extensions

Rates: £650 - £700 D.O.E Daily Rate Inside IR35 via Umbrella

Clearance: BPSS

Main Responsibilities:

Drive the reduction of technical H&S risk within the Project by providing independent assurance that key design and engineering H&S risk mitigation's are being deployed.
Support the Project to ensure design requirements concerning technical H&S are compliant with the applicable Technical Standards (State of the Art) and accepted Industry Good Practice
Review and provide input into the development of the Project Technical H&S Employer's Requirements, supporting engineers across the various Project packages and work scopes.
Support the Engineering Manager and Package Leads to ensure ALARP Principles are applied and demonstrated within the relevant Contactor and Project design decision logs, risk assessments, ALARP demonstration workshops, and key decision processes
Support the review & assessment of Contractor Design Risk Assessments (DRA) and any deviations/ alternative solutions to satisfy ALARP
Support the Engineering Management to produce Offshore Project Technical Health & Safety Files including co-ordination 3rd resource/input
Ensure all Technical H&S lessons learned (internal & external) are captured and feed in a timely manner across the Project (& if applicable other areas)
Support the Co-ordination of the Principle Designer responsibilities under CDM, in particular with reference to CDM Regulation 11.
Where required, co-ordinate technical safety activity on project and package deliverables e.g. HAZIDs, HAZOPs . DRAs, etc.
Lead the development of any Operations Safety Cases as required to mitigate operational issues arising from emergent risks (where approved within the Project)
Act as primary point of contact and interface between the Project Engineering and SHW functions.
Attendance at internal and external hazard and risk workshops to ensure that they are carried out in a robust manner and to a suitable quality.
Writing Technical Health and Safety Plans to manage design risks throughout the whole Project lifecycle in accordance with the Large Capital Projects (LCP) Process risk framework in conjunction with the Lead Engineers.
In conjunction with the SHW Team, provide SHE risk and CDM expertise to ensure all internal, external and legal requirements are met.

Requirements:

Extensive experience within a project design and engineering environment. Strong understanding of the Renewables generation business, preferably including offshore wind.
Experience of working with multi-disciplined engineering teams.
Possess advanced technical skills related to Offshore Wind Safety and SHE Management, including application of hazard studies and design risk assessment tools.
Awareness of personal and corporate safety practices.
