Senior Project Structural Engineer
SD Engineers is seeking a creative, enthusiastic and personable Senior Project Structural Engineer with at least 6 years of experience to join our dynamic team in our central London location.
We are a practice of imaginative engineers collaborating with some of the country's most ambitious architects and clients, emerging and established, to deliver the highest quality buildings and infrastructure projects. As creative problem solvers, we help clients realise their designs by truly understanding the narrative and intent behind each project. Our experience as structural and civil engineers allows us to work at all scales and across all typologies, acting as a reliable partner throughout the design and build process. We are committed to delivering low carbon designs and will actively suggest ways to reduce impact on the environment, and undertake carbon counting exercises to justify our approach.
About the role
The role requires someone who is self-motivated, embraces responsibility, and possesses strong technical design skills. The successful candidate will work collaboratively to deliver high quality engineering on a wide range of exciting projects and of all scales.
The role will fit someone who is willing to take on leadership responsibilities.
Key requirements:
The successful candidate must hold an IStructE accredited degree in structural engineering, and either already be chartered or working towards chartership with either the IStructE or ICE.
Exceptional communication skills are a requirement for this role as we collaborate with numerous stakeholders and design disciplines on all projects. Being a reliable and highly organised team member is an essential part of this role to ensure we meet strict deadlines.
This role will fit someone who is proactive and able to undertake tasks independently as well as part of a team.
The ideal candidate will:
* Have 6+ years of relevant experience working and have a track record of taking the lead on complex building projects.
* Be chartered with the IStructE/ ICE or close to achieving chartership.
* Have a broad range of experience designing steel, concrete, masonry and timber framed buildings in different sectors and scales of buildings.
* Have exceptional communication skills.
* Have the desire to develop their leadership potential and have experience managing junior team members.
* Be willing to contribute to the management of projects including preparing fee proposals and budgets as well as develop client relationships and win new business.
* Have extensive experience using structural design software packages, such as TEDDS, Tekla Structural Designer and Revit / BIM.
* Have an inquisitive mind and have an interest in embracing the latest technology and low carbon construction methods.
Salary and Benefits:
* £48,000 - £58,000, depending on experience.
* Joining bonus for direct applicants, subject to passing probation.
* Excellent career development opportunities with weekly in-house CPD sessions and support to gain IStructE or ICE chartered status.
* Flexible working arrangements with up to two days a week home working available and flexible start and finish times. Core hours 10-12 and 2-4pm. Once a month core hours can be flexed to allow an early
