We have a fantastic new job opportunity for a Principal Structural Engineer withprevious experience working within the structural engineering industry, substantial UK construction industry design consultancy experience and good commercial awareness.

Working as the Principal Structural Engineer you will assist the Director to manage resources of the design group; assuming or delegating the role of Project Engineer ad reviewing, checking and guiding more junior members of the team.

The role of Principal Structural Engineer would suit an engineer who enjoys the variety of both private and public sector projects. You will have a hands-on approach and use your understanding of Eurocodes and current industry standards to delivery technically sound, sustainable and buildable solutions.

They encourage collaborative working across all disciplines and offices, with the role providing significant exposure to, and collaboration opportunities with other disciplines such as the geotechnical, civil and faade engineering teams.

Requirements for the Principal Structural Engineer include:
  • A relevant Bachelors degree (or equivalent) qualification
  • Membership of relevant professional body (e.g. ICE/IStructE). You may be working towards chartership status or already chartered
  • Substantial UK construction industry design consultancy experience across a number of sectors, including residential
  • Ability to specify common material specifications via NBS create / Building: reinforced concrete, structural steelwork, masonry and timber
  • Knowledge of Tekla and Revit would be an advantage
  • Good commercial awareness and client liaison experience
  • In-depth ability to undertake superstructure and foundation design to latest CodeS of Practices
  • Confidence to attend site visits, attend client meetings and assist in the financial management of a project
  • Ability to speak clearly, confidently, and professionally
  • Ability to write clear and concise technical reports
  • Ability to provide mentoring support to more junior colleagues
