Job Description: DY Consultants is seeking an Electrical Engineer to join our team and be part of a rapidly growing airport engineering consultancy firm. This position provides the ideal candidate with an exciting opportunity to expand their career during this important period in the company’s history, while we actively participate in the expansion and improvement of airports, both domestically and internationally. The ideal candidate for this position should possess the ability to work both independently and collaboratively with their respective project teams. Key responsibilities will include detailed design and preparing reports, technical specifications and proposals for airport related construction projects for key local, regional domestic and international airport clients. Typical airside development projects include pavements, geometry, grading, drainage, visual aids, navigational aids, airfield lighting systems, utilities and other associated construction items.

 

 

 

Key responsibilities will include:

 

  • Work with a team of professionals to support our electrical engineering projects. Responsible for the delivery of project discipline scope elements within budget and schedule. Preparation of design plans and specifications per FAA Advisory Circulars and PANYNJ Design Standards. Assist in the preparation of permitting, design, and construction documents. Technical and design report writing. Provide support with business development and client relations. Attend meetings with clients, regulatory agencies, and stakeholders to establish their needs and discuss design/permitting issues.

 

 

Qualifications and Skills:

 

  • B.Sc. in Electrical Engineering Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) or Engineer-in-Training Certificate preferred. Minimum 2-3 years of professional experience in all aspects of airport related electrical engineering, including design for power generation, electrical power distribution, airfield lighting specifications, and communications infrastructure. Experience in delivering and managing all stages of multi-disciplinary engineering projects from initial studies through to detailed design. Full proficiency with AutoCAD is required. Full proficiency with Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) is required. Superior attention to detail and organizational ability. Excellent communication (both written and verbal) skills and the ability to represent DY Consultants in client-facing roles at all levels.

Working knowledge and related experience of FAA and State DOT grant filing procedures, other aviation-related approval procedures (TCAP, TAA, FAA Form 7460 etc.) and environmental permitting requirements (CAFRA, SPDES, etc.) a plus. DY Consultants:

Job Title:  CAD Technician – Airport Planning & Engineering

 

Location: New York, NY

 

Job Description: 

 

Job Description: DY Consultants is seeking an airport planning & engineering CAD Technician to perform a variety of CAD drafting tasks associated with airport planning and design projects, including developing airport layout plans (ALPs), creating facilities site designs, drawings associated with airspace obstruction studies and other environmental studies, pavement designs, drainage and grading designs, and electrical layouts. This position will assist the DY Consultants’ Aviation Planning and Engineering Groups with sketches and exhibits associated with client focusing deliverables. This position will be based in our New York City offices, with a hybrid work schedule.

Assignments to include:

Produces construction documents using AutoCAD Civil 3D drafting/design software to include in the construction drawing sets, quantity take offs, sketches, and exhibits. Produces airport layout plan documents and exhibits. Lays out and scales the components of each drawing, prepares the appropriate existing condition plan, demolition/removal plan, proposed conditions, and details as required. Completes redlines/design changes as directed by Engineer/Planner/CAD Manager. Ensures compliance with company CAD standards within the scope of assigned projects. Manages multiple projects adhering to deadlines and prioritized assignments. Maintains file management of AutoCAD files and other documents per company standards. Communicates effectively with other team members on joint projects.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 2 years of applicable experience with Civil 3D and AutoCAD platforms or combination of work experience and education.  Experience with AviPlan preferred. Knowledge of the airport environment preferred Possess both a strong willingness and the ability to learn. Carefully follow verbal and written instructions. Quickly adapt to processes and different software in a fast-paced environment. A positive attitude with the ability to work and be engaged in a team setting. Successfully complete an AutoCAD proficiency test administered by the firm. Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment Full proficiency with Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) is required. Superior attention to detail and organizational ability. Excellent communication (both written and verbal) skills and the ability to represent DY Consultants in client-facing roles at all levels.

Typical airside development projects include pavement rehabilitation, geometry, grading, drainage, visual aids, navigational aids, airfield lighting systems, utilities and other associated construction items.

 

 

 

Key responsibilities will include:

 

construction inspection and management of airport projects dealing with airfield safety, standards, improvement, and expansion programs Construction work includes construction administration and management including shop drawing review, responding to contractor questions, and construction inspection Additional work includes environmental permitting, review of construction plans, specifications, schedules, design reports, and cost estimates to support the design team, including constructability reviews Serve as independent lead RPR/RE on the construction phase of airport projects within the region Facilitate the construction management of the project through coordination with the Project Manager, Design Team, Contractor, and Owner Informal task supervision and mentorship of other Junior Engineers/Inspectors at the direction of the Project Manager Tracks quantities and work progress utilizing field measurements and Civil 3D Travel to airport project sites (expected 90%+ field work) Conducts constructability reviews for airport projects to support design team Completes calculations, sketches, diagrams, schematics related to airport development projects including runways, taxiways, aprons, hangars, terminals, and other airport facilities Prepares and interprets construction specifications for airport development projects per FAA Advisory Circular 150/5370-10 and State requirements Prepares reports, schedules, quantity takeoffs, and cost estimates Collects and analyzes data to support design and construction phases of projects Collaborates with other airport/civil engineering, architectural, and engineering disciplines, sub-consultants, Utility companies, permitting agencies, contractors, government and regulatory agencies, and clients Performs work in accordance with agreed-upon budget and schedule Ability to travel to, reside, and work at airport sites throughout the region  

 

Qualifications and Skills:

 

High School Degree and Minimum eight (5) years related experience performing the responsibilities outlined above for transportation related projects (highways, airports, rail, etc.) Ability to pass Federal background and criminal investigation checks in order to obtain Airport identification badges Valid U.S. driver's license required DY Consultants:
