Arup's water team has wide-ranging skills spanning advisory and specialist technical services. We apply them on every kind of project, from flood risk management and water resource planning, to dam engineering, treatment works design and river engineering.

The Opportunity

We are looking for a talented and enthusiastic Associate to help us with our growing workload in the field of water and wastewater engineering. The role will focus on the delivery of projects for our major clients in the Midlands, including Severn Trent Water and the Environment Agency.

The role will involve: Working with Arup colleagues in specialisms such as Flood and Coastal Risk Management, Water Companies, regulatory, infrastructure and water advisory, dams and reservoirs, site development, sustainability and environmental planning to deliver projects to agreed scope and budget. You will build a strong relationship with client teams leading the technical and commercial delivery of projects. Developing best-practice within the team whilst identifying new project opportunities and areas of business activity. Line management will also feature in this role.

If you have all or some of these skills and experience, and a willingness and passion to work in our team, we would like to hear from you. We're looking for the following specific qualifications and attributes:
  • Experienced in project management of multidisciplinary projects in the water sector.
  • Skills in writing project scopes, business cases and reports.
  • Knowledge of the engineering projects in the water sector.
  • An ability to build, maintain and manage strong, long-term relationships within Arup and with our clients and stakeholders.
  • An academic background in science, engineering, or the environmental field./ Chartered member of a relevant professional body.

A recognised subject matter expert in the field of water and wastewater solutions, hydraulic design and flooding, SuDS and civil engineering project delivery is greatly desired.
