Are you a skilled engineer specialising in Civil Engineering Design with a keen interest in advancing your career within the dynamic Energy & Resources Sector?

The transmission and distribution sector is rapidly transforming against a backdrop of growing demand, regulatory changes, ambitious carbon reduction targets and new innovations in technology.

My client is currently seeking a Senior Civil Engineer with experience in the Transmission Sector to join them in any of their offices across the UK. This is an exciting opportunity to get involved in a wide variety of projects, across various technical disciplines with clients across the country. These projects can include HVDC, interconnectors, wind farms, substations, OHL, geotechnical solutions, building design, protection systems, LVAC, FEED, new builds, refurbishment works, connection schemes, etc.

You will join a growing and collaborative team, working in partnership with a variety of clients to develop innovative and sustainable solutions to industry-wide efficiency and environmental challenges. My client has ambitious growth plans and as a result, there are lots of great development opportunities across their business.

This is an opportunity for you to play an important part in the UK energy transition.

You will work closely with other multi-disciplinary teams supporting the FEED design and detailed design for the civil aspects of substation refurbishment/extensions, new-build substations, and other electrical civil infrastructure.

About You:

You will be a pro-active individual with knowledge and understanding of the electricity transmission and distribution industry.
You will have the capability to coach and work within the wider energy team.
You will be engaged in the engineering community and understand how we can drive success for our clients, including understanding innovative solutions and industry best practices.
You can develop innovative and practical solutions to a range of problems and have an understanding of how one issue may be part of a much larger solution.
You will ideally be qualified with a Bachelor's/Masters degree in Civil Engineering (or related field), from an accredited institution, and professional registration as a Chartered Engineer with the Engineering Council and ICE is preferred. You will also have experience as a civil substation engineer, with a wider awareness of other typical HV civil engineering projects.
You will have a good understanding of CDM requirements.

My client is particularly interested in candidates who have good knowledge of National Grid's Transmission procedures and thorough knowledge and experience applying National Grid's Technical Specification, Technical Guidance Notes, and Design Handbooks relating to civil/structural engineering of electricity T&D infrastructure in the UK.
