Position: Senior Engineer

General Summary: Under limited supervision, coordinates and performs all phases of difficult engineering work related to the design, construction and maintenance of City Project or systems. Provide technical oversight of consultants or local agency staff performing engineering work related to the development of City projects.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Coordinates the construction of public works projects with various divisions/departments of the City, developers, other governmental agencies and consulting engineering firms
- Represents the Engineering department at Planning Commission, public hearings, meetings, and other meetings of City commissions, boards and committees to explain program plans and solicit input
- Makes decisions and handles difficult technical and administrative problems in connection with directing the work of engineers and others; plans, assigns, and reviews work; gives instructions and assistance
- Provides technical oversight of contractors performing engineering work under contract with the City; manages engineering contracts between the City and private engineering firms.
- Oversees and participates in the development of assigned Division’s annual budget including participating in the forecast of revenues and necessary funds for staffing, materials, services and supplies
- Participates in the development and implementation of goals, objectives, policies, procedures, priorities, work products, and work methods for assigned area of responsibility
- Provides supervision, advice, guidance, training, and technical direction to other staff with regard to engineering issues, workload, and internal reporting relationships
- Other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Engineering or closely related field
- Five (5) years of experience in professional engineering work
- Professional Civil Engineering License
