Job Details

Applications are now being accepted for two (2) exempt management positions of Deputy Director in the Projects Division & Operations Division. Starting wage for both positions is $116,896 - $134,368 annually / DOQ. Primary Duties:

  • The Deputy Director of Projects is responsible for the oversight, strategic planning and execution of District programs and functions related to planning, programming, project engineering, and construction. Responsible for the management of staff to ensure performance expectations are met with regards to the overall organizational standards efficiency and performance of the Projects Division. 
  • The Deputy Director of Operations is responsible for the oversight and strategic planning of District programs and functions as related to roadway and bridge maintenance activities, traffic operations, and environmental planning and compliance. Responsible for the management of staff to ensure performance expectations are met with regards to the overall organizational efficiency and performance of the Operations Division. 

Qualifications:

  • The successful candidate must have extensive management experience including financial and budgetary management in an organization of comparable size to the District and comprehensive knowledge of the principles and practices of public administration.
  • Projects Division: Considerable experience is desirable in transportation safety, project management, and best practices in context sensitive design solutions for multimodal transportation projects. Experience is also strongly preferred in safety engineering, right-of-way, and contract management.
  • Operations Division: Considerable experience is desirable in street, drainage, and traffic operations; maintenance and repair criteria of a roadway network; best practices in transportation asset management, and environmental considerations. Experience is also preferred in change management and deployment of new equipment, facilities, and policies.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Public Administration, Business Administration, or a related field, is required with completion of graduate level coursework in the respective discipline also strongly preferred. Experience in progressively responsible leadership positions is desired. OR any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities may be acceptable.
