Our client is looking to appoint a Senior/Principal Civil Engineer to join their well reputed design consultancy in their Central London office. You will be part of a dynamic team and have an opportunity to work on a wide range of projects, from city-wide masterplans through to parks and public realm projects including educational, arts and leisure, commercial and residential developments.
They have been around for over 20 years delivering high quality infrastructure projects and creating enhanced career opportunities for talented engineers. You will require a have a sound technical base with a good knowledge of relevant infrastructure standards, and an ability to adapt and work with other relevant international standards and practices.

The role
Technical design of key infrastructure systems including water, flood mitigation, highways and utilities.
Coaching junior staff and supporting their development
Technical design of sustainable drainage systems, preferably from concept through to construction, including detailed modelling.
Site analysis including hydrology, utilities, ground condition and environmental conditions.
Defining briefs, developing strategies and undertaking feasibility studies in response to client needs.
What you need to succeed
BSc/BEng (or equivalent) in Civil Engineering
7 years post-graduation design experience with the ability to think through complex problems and embrace creative and appropriate solutions
Experience of 3D parametric modelling such as Rhino/Grasshopper
Experience of design software used in energy and environmental analysis.
Environmental design of buildings
Design software such as InfoDrainage and MicroDrainage
Membership of an appropriate professional body such as ICE, CIBSE, IMechE, IStructE, CIWEM (or similar)
Professionally registered as a Chartered Engineer (CEng) - preferably already certified but we may consider those working towards certification
Digital design and systems optimisation tools such as parametric earth movement modelling and information systems and 3D modelling
Strong IT skills, along with an ability to interpret and work with maps, plans and drawings
Experience of further design software commonly used in the design of infrastructure associated with building-based projects; this could include Autodesk Civil 3D, AutoCAD, Revit, GIS, etc.
Awareness of BIM and its application on projects
Coaching junior staff and supporting their development
The ability to communicate confidently and able to adapt your approach to suit specific situations
A good understanding of sustainable development practice.
The ability to lead discussions with external parties, such as clients, co-consultants, specialists and in workshop environments.
The skills to work with clients to identify opportunities and play a role in securing them.
Experience in negotiating with technical stakeholders such as the Environment Agency, Local Flood Authorities and Water Undertakers.
Experience in the production of accurate, high-quality drawings.
The ability to work both individually and as part of a multidisciplinary team, while also taking responsibility for the quality of your work.
The ability to successfully delegate work
