Job Details
Manage and review the administration and construction of transportation infrastructure, such as roadways, bridges, drainage, and sewer systems, traffic signals, and other roadway appurtenances. Analyze operations and business practices (i.e. staffing requirements, systems and technology, procedures, job functions, etc.) or improving processes and making best use of available resources. Develop and implement strategies for attaining the effective and efficient performance of all work tasks to meet Departmental/extra departmental goals and objectives. Interface with contractors, property owners, government agencies, utilities and others; communities, coordinates and collaborates regarding construction matters; facilitates resolution of challenging situations. Ensures outward facing information regarding permit processes, requirements, and procedures are kept up to date. Performs other duties as assigned This position is Actively Recruited and At Will. Minimum Qualifications
• Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's Degree or higher in Civil Engineering, Construction Engineering, Construction Management or a directly related field is required.
• Eight (8) years in construction engineering, construction management, or directly related experience is required.
• Four (4) years of prior supervisory experience is required

The Cook County Department of Transportation and Highways was established in 1913 by the State of Illinois upon approval of the first officially recorded County highway system maps. The present day system has evolved to include jurisdictional authority over 568 center line miles of highways. The Department has maintenance responsibilities for 1,426 lane miles of pavement, 132 bridges, 360 traffic signals and seven pumping stations from four maintenance facilities.
