Would you like to join an international defence company to support their clients by improving the capability, reliability and availability of their most critical assets? Due to continued investment, this global business is currently looking for a Civil Engineer to join their existing team in Plymouth (mostly remote working, onsite once a month) on an initial 20 week contract.
The Role
As a Civil Engineer, you will assist the Discipline Lead in delivery of the structural engineering work packages to the required scope, quality, schedule and cost. Your responsibilities will include the following but not limited to:
Preparing and/or checking civil/seismic designs, analyses, reports, drawings, specifications and other documents in support of Nuclear and Non-Nuclear related plant, facility and equipment within the company's licensed, authorised and operational sites, or in support of external contracts.
Manage design work packages as appointed by Discipline Lead. Supporting planning of activities, with respect to task durations, level of effort and estimated costs, through to provision of design deliverables with regular schedule reviews and progress reporting, utilising Earned Value Management methodologies, and construction support.
Support development, construction, installation, commissioning, operation and maintenance of Facilities to ensure that they comply with the design intent and DNSP's for Nuclear related Works, together with all relevant
In addition, you will also participate in the problem solving for development of technical solutions to deficiencies or in the development of new designs and support the on-site inspection of DRDL assets for their construction, maintenance and modification.
You
To succeed within the role of a Civil Engineer, you'll have experience in a similar position and have the following skills:
A degree in an appropriate engineering discipline.
Chartered Engineer, registered with Engineering Council or working towards chartership
Knowledge of seismic engineering essential
Demonstratable knowledge and skills required in the technical management of complex design development throughout the design lifecycle
Experience of Finite Element Analysis and modelling software
Please note that due to security nature of this role, offers of employment will be dependent on obtaining SC security clearance. The vetting process is delivered by United Kingdom Security Vetting (UKSV) and will require candidates to provide proof of residency in the UK of 5 years or longer.
