Structural Engineering Support

Our client based in Stockton-on-Tees, a leading organisation in the engineering sector, seeks a consultant to provide structural engineering services. The appointed provider will ensure compliance with project requirements and industry standards while delivering innovative design solutions.

The delivery of the scope of work is required to be within a 6-week period to ensure project deliverables and KPIs are met.

Scope of Work and Deliverables:

Creating and analysing structural steelwork designs for process equipment and plant installations
Estimating concept designs, steel weights, and engineering time for proposals
Ensuring designs meet project scope, schedules, and budget requirements
Developing detailed scopes of work with clear deliverables for external support
Managing and reviewing third-party design contributions, including specifications and document control
Providing foundation load data for civil design and connection details for fabrication
Generating comprehensive reports and participating in progress meetings
Translating notes, sketches, and design concepts into detailed engineering specifications
Coordinating with internal and external civil/structural designers and reporting daily, meeting KPIs
Keeping design documentation updated in line with change procedures
Guiding designers and detailers to follow best practices
Adhering to the latest industry standards and codes (BS, ISO)
Competency Requirements:

Significant history providing structural design for materials handling and processing equipment
Skilled in using design software such as STAAD-Pro, Tekla Designer, and S-Frame
In-depth knowledge of design and drawing standards, and CE/UKCA regulations
Familiar with manufacturing processes, especially medium to heavy fabrication
Willingness to travel for site surveys as needed
Proven track record in value engineering and continuous improvement
Proficient with Microsoft Office, including Teams and SharePoint
