Key Responsibilities:

The successful candidate will be working alongside a highly skilled group of engineers with vast experience in UK and international projects. Similarly, they will have the opportunity work closely with the directors, enabling them to draw on their expertise directly. Responsibilities are as following;

Execute and coordinate projects, providing technical design ‘best practice'
Produce technical design information including drawings, calculations, specifications and reports
Assist with reviewing and checking designs and drawings prepared by other engineers
Assist with planning site investigation works
Assist with the preparation of feasibility studies and provide design advice
Assist with the preparation of design reports and progress reports
Obtain and review quotes for investigation works
Manage the appointments and work of sub-contractors carrying out investigation works
Attend site visits to inspect construction being undertaken, compile validation reports and provide
monthly update reports
Attend and input at design meetings and site meetings, and record actions
Undertake site inspections and record findings, and advise on any required actions
Produce designs, assessments and calculations in accordance with quality procedures
Liaise effectively with clients, local authorities and other design team members
Implement the use of computer-based systems to improve efficiency
Support junior members of the team
Effectively manage own time and expenditure on tasks
Understand and adhere to existing working practices, methods and procedures
Adopt ‘best practice'
Proactive in self-development
Deliver agreed business development targets

Successful candidate specifications:

HND/HNC in civil engineering or a university degree in Civil Engineering is preferred
At least 1+ years' experience working in a UK consultancy on both highway and drainage design schemes;
To be able to understand construction procedures
Working knowledge of AutoCAD, Civils 3D and FLOW/Microdrainage/InfoDrainage
Conversant in designing to British Standards/Eurocodes/Building Regulations/Sewerage Sector
Guidance and the SuDS Manual (C753)
Conversant in foul and surface water drainage design in accordance with adoptable standards and including SuDS
Able to use computer design software packages including Autocad, Civil 3D, FLOW & SmartTools (or Microdrainage/InfoDrainage), Word, and Excel
Have a working knowledge of Cut/Fill analysis, building 3D models, and data shortcuts using Civil 3D
Understanding of CDM Regulations and responsibilities of a designer
Able to understand engineering concepts
Good written and verbal communication skills
Able to produce accurate and clear drawings
Able to work effectively within and across teams and with colleagues
