STRUCTURAL ANALYST ENGINEER (NUCLEAR)

Contract Position

9 12 Months +

Remote / Hybrid (Offices in Manchester, Derby and Wolverhampton)

We are looking for an experienced Structural Analysis Engineer to assist with a couple of nuclear projects over the next 12 months+. Our client is a market leader within the Nuclear industry, involved in a cutting edge project for a new type of Power Station.

You will be working with the component design teams to deliver stress analysis capability to support design concept development and structural justifications

STRUCTURAL ANALYSIS ENGINEER ROLE
  • Undertake assessments of the Containment Vessel, or sub-components, against ASME NE. Report this in technical outputs (slides or reports) as appropriate.
  • Support the production of the Containment Vessel stress strategy document
  • Deliver work packages in line with requirement to support the overall programme.
  • Identify and mitigate risks and opportunities.
  • Ensure that quality is maintained throughout the SMR project lifecycle by undertaking appropriate technical reviews and providing the required inputs to the project technical review gates.
  • Support arising structural assessments or calculations from the Containment Vessel design team

STRUCTURAL ANALYSIS ENGINEER
  • Update of an extant Containment Vessel model to add in some more detailed penetrations such as the main access hatch.
  • Undertaking the following assessments in Abaqus:
  • Buckling
  • Static Strength
    • For the following load scenarios:
  • Seismic
  • Pressure (Internal and External)
  • Lifts from Polar Crane (within Containment Vessel)
    • Undertaking some emergency scenarios
  • Hazards i.e sparger release, impacts onto Containment Vessel
  • Fire
    • Producing a technical output to support component DR3 and GDA deliverable to ONR
    • Support wider containment vessel IPT
  • Providing support to arising structural tasks from design
  • Support to Code Case for removal of Post Weld Heat Treatment
  • Review of justification strategy document.
