Mechanical Design Engineer / Construction Contracts & Project Manager

Mechanical Design & Contracts Engineer who has previous experience in a similar construction design or project engineering/management role, with excellent supervisory, organisational and client facing skills is required for a leading Mechanical Services Contractor specialising in the design, installation, testing and commissioning of commercial and industrial building services.

SALARY: Negotiable (Depending on Experience) + Company Car + Benefits

LOCATION: Cheltenham, Gloucestershire, South West England with some travel throughout the UK to client sites

We have a fantastic new job opportunity for a Mechanical Design & Contracts Engineer who has previous experience in a similar construction design or project engineering/management role, with excellent supervisory, organisational and client facing skills.

As the Mechanical Design & Contracts Engineer you will manage retail and commercial projects throughout the UK from enquiry stage to final account.

This is a first class opportunity for an energetic Mechanical Design & Contracts Engineer to carry out fast-track projects throughout the UK from initial client contact to final accounts, including all aspects of procurement and onsite contract management.

DUTIES

Your duties and responsibilities as Mechanical Design & Contracts Engineer will include:

• Production and control of accurate and timely estimating for tenders

• Production and control of effective and economic scheme designs and specifications Liaising with CAD team for final drawing production

• Efficient planning and programming of activities and projects

• Economic procurement of materials, plant and specialist services on all projects

• Effective supervision of direct and sub-contract labour on projects

• Timely preparation, evaluation and submission of interim payment applications/valuations, variations and final accounts

• Ensuring effective coverage of site meeting, survey, design and viability meetings on projects

• Maintaining and developing good client relationships

• Preparation of Monthly Status/Action Progress reports covering projects

• The effective utilisation of the teams resources

• Achievement of team profitability targets

• Maintaining accurate forecasts of projected final account values together with projects final costs for all projects, preparation and submission of detailed monthly reports

• Timely preparation and submission of operating/maintenance manuals and As Installed drawings

• Prepare Projects RAMS

• Assist Estimating Department in developing competitive Tenders

• Ensuring the adherence to Company procedures and policies

CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS

• Previous experience in a similar construction design, project engineering/management type role

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills

• Excellent leadership/supervisory skills

• Excellent organisational and time-management skills

• Ability to form solid client relationships at all levels

• Good IT skills, using Microsoft packages
