Job Description
Your future team:
Assystem have several exciting opportunities available for Civil/Structural Engineers of varying levels of experience to join our dynamic Major Infrastructure Projects Business Unit. You will be part of a supportive team that values innovation, continuous learning, and professional growth.
Your missions:
As a Civil Engineer you will assist the Client Discipline Lead in delivering structural engineering work packages for our Defence clients. You will be responsible for managing the technical deliverables of structural engineering packages, ensuring they align with the planned deliverables set by the Discipline Lead. Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:
Preparing and checking civil and seismic designs, analyses, reports, drawings, specifications, and other documents.
Participating in developing technical solutions to deficiencies and creating new designs to meet project needs.
Supporting the review of new designs, construction methodologies, and temporary works, ensuring they meet the required technical standards.
Supervising and providing guidance to junior staff, helping to develop their skills and knowledge in civil engineering.
Ensuring all development, construction, installation, commissioning, and maintenance work complies with design intents and relevant Local and National Regulations.
Supporting on-site inspections of assets to verify their construction, maintenance, and modifications are in line with project requirements.

Qualifications
Qualifications/Skills to be successful:
A degree in civil engineering or a related discipline is required.
Chartered Engineer registered with the Engineering Council or actively working towards chartership.
Prior knowledge of seismic engineering, particularly in the design and substantiation of heavy civil engineering structures, is essential.
Experience in designing and substantiating steel structures, industrial buildings, and understanding building services design and installation.
Working knowledge of relevant engineering software, including Finite Element Analysis and modelling tools.
Proven experience in project planning, management, and budgeting, with a strong understanding of health and safety, design, and quality standards.
Additional Information
Umbrella contractor position but staff solutions accepted
Most work from local Assystem office or home location with occasional visits to Client site in Plymouth.
BPSS required to start but SC needed thereafter. Must be Sole UK nationals.
