Environmental Engineer - Woking (Hybrid Option)

Global Edge is partnering with a global EPC company to offer a great opportunity for an Environmental Engineer. The role is based in Woking, with potential for hybrid work and travel to West Africa.

Job Purpose: Ensure environmental compliance and sustainability for energy projects, managing permits, mitigating risks, and adhering to regulations.

Key ACCOUNTABILITY

Environmental Impact Assessment: Conduct environmental impact assessments (EIAs) for Project activities, identifying potential environmental impacts and proposing mitigation strategies.

Permitting and Regulatory Compliance: Manage the permitting process, securing all necessary environmental permits and approvals from relevant authorities. Ensure ongoing compliance with environmental regulations throughout the project.

Develop project environmental plans and deliverables such as Environmental Management Plan (EMP), Waste Management Plan (WMP) Development and Implementation.

Stakeholder Engagement: Maintain effective communication with internal and external stakeholders on environmental issues related to the project, including regulators, the Client, contractors, and NGOs.
  • Develop and implement incident response plans for environmental incidents and ensure timely reporting to regulatory authorities.
  • Prepare reporting templates and collate reports with information provided by worksites.
  • Develop and provide environmental training.
  • Coach and support HSE Team members on environmental requirements.
  • Develop and implement environmental compliance audit and monitoring processes
  • Assisting in implementing and maintaining the Environmental Management System (EMS) across the organization, working towards ISO14001 compliance.
  • Comply and carry out all other tasks as per instructed by the Project HSE Manager


  • Qualifications / Certifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Marine Science, or related field with a preference for a master's degree
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in environmental management, preferably in the oil and gas or renewable energy sector.
  • ISO 14001:2015 internal / external auditor certification is preferred.
  • Associate member/Member of marine/engineering/environmental professional institute is preferred.
