GDi are looking for an experienced, enthusiastic, and motivated Principal Structural Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will be an experienced structural engineer with at least 10 years' experience.
As a Principal Structural Engineer, you will be responsible for carrying out Structural Engineering for Global Design Ltd, and any other company as may be added to GDi's portfolio.
After a recent contract win; this role will be for 3 years and working out of the Client's office.

As a Principal Structural Engineer, you will be responsible for carrying out Structural Engineering for Global Design Ltd, and any other company as may be added to GDi's portfolio.
After a recent contract win; this role will be for 3 years and working out of the Client's office.
Key Activities and Accountabilities:
- Adhere to and comply with Company engineering procedures, industry, international and client codes and standards.
- Conversant and knowledgeable with respect to current and new National and International standards and legislative requirements related to the discipline scope.
- Produce calculations required for the role and participate in design reviews.
- Approval, checking and preparation of design/engineering documentation (also check interdisciplinary documents where necessary).
- Creation and checking of estimates and schedules and assist in their review.
- Monitoring progress of work and achieving completion within the agreed schedule and budget. Monitoring and reporting on progress and cost throughout.
- Management of 3rd Party Suppliers in the execution of discipline Engineering Delivery - Including specification of equipment, materials and subcontract scopes, review of supplier's quotations and/or preparation of technical bid assessments as required.
- Producing documentation deliverables for inclusion in workpacks.
- Provides coaching and mentoring for junior members of the team.
Essential Skills & Abilities & Experience
- Degree qualified with at least 10 years' experience.
- Demonstrable experience in Detailed Design Engineering and Engineering Checking/Approval.
- Competent in the use of appropriate codes of practice, standards, and relevant sections of statutory documentation.
- Competent in the use of design and assessment methods used within discipline.
- Competent in planning, progress monitoring, forecasting, and reporting.
- Sound time and resource management skills.
- Excellent problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
- Self-motivated, with the drive and initiative to carry out projects according to plan and the ability to quickly adapt in a fast-changing environment.
