Recruitment Incentive Bonus: Principal Engineer is $12,000

A full-time employee recruited under the program would be eligible for up to 25% of the bonus on their first paycheck, another 25% after successfully passing the probationary period, and the final 50% after completing 24 months of employment.

 

THE OPPORTUNITY

The City of Rancho Palos Verdes is seeking team-oriented professionals that will be hyper-focused on responding to resident issues with first-class customer service. To succeed in this position, the incumbent will need exceptional written and oral communication ability, outstanding critical thinking aptitude, analytical decision-making proficiency, excellent organization skills, and unwavering attention to detail. Finally, knowledge of engineering concepts typical to public works operations, as defined in the class specification, is essential to this position.

Key responsibilities of the position include overseeing the City’s:

Traffic program

  • Traffic calming and speed mitigation
  • Signal operations
  • Transportation infrastructure improvements
  • Other transportation/traffic related issues

Right-of-way management

  • Engineering standards
  • Permitting
  • Utility coordination

Utilities regulatory compliance and asset management

  • Sanitary sewer
  • Stormwater quality
  • Drainage

Other

  • Solid waste
  • Fuel modification

OR

Overseeing the City’s capital improvement projects managed by staff and consultants throughout their life-cycle; including planning, environmental clearance, design, and construction oversight including the following:

  • Pavement rehabilitation, sidewalks replacement, curb ramp  installation, and signage and pavement marking updates
  • Drainage improvements/flood risk reduction
  • Stormwater quality compliance
  • Sanitary sewer upgrades
  • New traffic signals and traffic signal upgrades/modifications
  • Traffic calming improvements
  • Other
