Water Treatment Engineer (Facilities Maintenance)

Job Description
I am seeking a skilled Water Treatment Engineer to join our Facilities Maintenance team. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring the proper treatment and maintenance of water systems within our facilities. Your expertise will contribute to the efficient operation of our infrastructure, promoting sustainability and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
Water Treatment Management
Implement and oversee water treatment programs to maintain optimal water quality within our facilities. This includes monitoring water quality parameters, such as pH levels, hardness, and microbiological content.
System Inspection and Maintenance
Conduct regular inspections of water systems, including cooling towers, boilers, and potable water systems, to identify potential issues and ensure compliance with regulatory standards. Perform maintenance tasks, such as cleaning, flushing, and chemical treatment, to prevent scale, corrosion, and microbial growth.
Troubleshooting and Problem Resolution
Investigate water-related problems and develop effective solutions to address issues such as scaling, corrosion, fouling, and microbial contamination. Collaborate with other departments, contractors, and external vendors as needed to resolve complex issues.
Regulatory Compliance
Stay abreast of relevant regulations, codes, and industry standards pertaining to water treatment and ensure compliance with local, state, and federal requirements. Maintain accurate records and documentation of water treatment activities, test results, and regulatory reports.
Training and Education
Provide training and guidance to facility staff on proper water treatment practices, safety protocols, and emergency procedures. Promote awareness of water conservation initiatives and best practices for sustainable water management.
Continuous Improvement
Identify opportunities for process optimization, efficiency improvements, and cost-saving initiatives related to water treatment. Recommend upgrades to equipment, technology, and treatment methods to enhance system performance and reliability.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or related field. Advanced degree or relevant certifications (e.g., Certified Water Technologist) preferred.
- L8 Legionella (essential)
- Proven experience in water treatment, preferably in a facilities maintenance or industrial setting.
- Strong understanding of water chemistry, treatment processes, and equipment operation.
- Familiarity with regulatory requirements and industry standards for water quality and treatment.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex water-related issues.
- Effective communication skills with the ability to collaborate across departments and interact with stakeholders at all levels.
- Attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high standards of safety, quality, and environmental stewardship.
