We are looking for Senior Geotechnical Engineer to join the UK's leading ground engineering and geotechnical contractor. As Senior Geotechnical Engineer you will be responsible for key deliverables, ensuring engineers working under you fulfil contracted duties to our clients. Working alongside and mentoring other staff in Strata, the candidate will provide regular feedback to each engineer and work in close collaboration with other disciplines to deliver the project requirements.

What you'll be doing:
  • Take the lead on high profile projects.
  • Manage geotechnical/geoenvironmental investigations including soil and rock logging, soil and groundwater sampling and in-situ testing ensuring timely and quality delivery.
  • Take a proactive approach in the responsibility for the Health and Safety of the project ensuring all required documentation in place.
  • Provide technical input into the tender process and delivery of projects.
  • Delivery of geotechnical projects and reports with outline knowledge of UK design codes (including EC7 Part 1, and UK annexes), standards and specifications.
  • Make geotechnical recommendations including, outline design of foundations and basic considerations around earthworks, retaining structures, and slopes.
  • Use of geotechnical software, such as OpenGround/Holebase/GINT to produce deliverables.

Who we're looking for:
  • Previous experience in managing large, medium and small ground investigation projects.
  • Personable with strong communication and relationship building capabilities.
  • Experience in using Ground Investigation Data Management software such as OpenGround/Holebase/GINT. Experience in the use of other geotechnical software would be advantageous including settlement analysis and slope stability and Microsoft applications.
  • Knowledge of good practice in a variety of areas including earthworks, environmental assessment, remediation, coal workings, geotechnical aspects such as slope stability, foundation recommendations.
  • Knowledge of the role of investigation supervisor or contractors responsible engineer.
  • Working towards chartered status relevant to geotechnical engineering and/or environmental science.
  • Experience of working with GIS for GI management purposes is desirable.
  • Experience of effectively managing own priorities and meeting deadlines, in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work with and manage large amounts of data.
  • Willingness to work flexibly to support the overall aims of the team and changing priorities.
  • High level of attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with management and other departments.
  • Eligible to work and live in the UK.
  • Flexibility to travel in the UK.
  • A full valid driving licence
