The Company
This is a chance for an ambitious Project Civil Engineer to join a busy, award-winning engineering consultancy working from their Bristol office. The consultancy deliver a broad range of design services across geotechnical, environmental, structural, and civil engineering. The successful candidate will enjoy a wide variety of projects, strong mentorship, and a nurturing and supportive, fun working environment, complete with onsite gym, café, bike storage, showers, and parking.
The Role
Reporting to a Principal Engineer (and Associates and Partners as necessary), you will be required to work on a interesting mix of Infrastructure and Civil Engineering projects within the industrial, commercial, retail and residential sectors.
Responsibilities
Surface water drainage and foul water drainage design
Collaboratively produce external works packages considering long and cross sections and pavement design
Coordinate designs across internal teams i.e. structural, geotechnical, highways, and transport planning
Produce flood risk and surface water strategies, flood risk assessments, flood evacuation plans and drainage plans
Produce technical notes / reports for pre-application or planning applications as needed
Consulting and liaising professionally with stakeholders, including water and / or utilities companies and relevant authorities
Assist with design risk assessment in accordance with CDM regs
Prepare designs, drawings, reports, specifications, and engineering models
Conduct site visits and manage the company IMS Requirements
BEng or MEng Civil Engineering Degree or equivalent qualification
(Apprenticeship qualifications with ongoing commitment to learn also welcome)
Competency in AutoCAD and experience with Civil3D and InfoDrainage desirable
Good working knowledge / experience of the principles and application of relevant regulations and guidance i.e. latest versions of Manual for Streets, Design Manual for Roads and Bridges, Design Construction Guidance for foul and surface water sewers "the Code"
Creative and innovative approach to highways and drainage civil engineering solutions
Excellent written, numerical, technical, and communication skills
Ability to manage a team and coordinate personal workloads effectively
Enthusiastic, motivated, and a ‘team player'
