Company

BJWSA is a public, nonprofit organization created by the South Carolina legislature. We are governed by a board of directors consisting of eleven members, who have been recommended by Beaufort County and Jasper County legislative delegations and appointed by the governor of South Carolina. Each and every day… We treat and deliver an average of 20 million gallons of drinking water each day to more than 60,000 retail customers. We also supply drinking water to wholesale customers who resell or redistribute our water to their residents. Overall, we serve more than 150,000 Lowcountry residents with drinking water. We collect, treat and recycle more than 9 million gallons of treated wastewater (for about 43,000 sewer accounts) safely back into the environment each day. BJWSA follows the regulations of the SC Department of Health and Environmental Control (DHEC) and the standards set in the Clean Drinking Water Act by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). We see these regulations and standards as the minimum and always strive to exceed these requirements.
