The Charleston County School District is seeking a candidate to lead the Engineering and Asset Management Branch which provides engineering support for CCSD facilities, CCSD design criteria management, management of CCSD facility assets and assigned sustainment, restoration and modernization projects.
Charleston County School District (CCSD) is a nationally accredited school district committed to providing equitable and quality educational opportunities for all of its students. CCSD is the second-largest school system in South Carolina and represents a unique blend of urban, suburban, and rural schools spanning 1,300 square miles along the coast. CCSD serves approximately 50,000 students in 88 schools and specialized programs.
Facilities Management Department
The purpose of Facilities Management is to provide safe, healthy, comfortable and pleasant facilities that work all the time and enhance learning. The mission of Facilities Management is to anticipate facilities needs and meet them before they become obvious.
Facilities Management consists of several operational components such as Environmental and Energy Services, Maintenance (repairs and preventive maintenance), Engineering and Asset Management Services, Programming, Planning, Plant Operations, Warehouse and Distribution Services. These operations provide services for 115 facilities and maintain 1,815 acres of property and approximately 9.5 million square feet of the physical plant.
The Department is a team of dedicated professionals committed to serving their community and is comprised of 158 full-time employees. The Engineering and Asset Management Branch consists of the Engineering and Asset Management Officer (PE) and 3 staff engineers (PE).
Engineering and Asset Management Officer
Primary responsibilities include multidisciplinary engineering support to CCSD staff, management of designs for CCSD renovations and/or construction projects, including project cost estimation and the management, ownership, and updating of CCSD facility design guidelines. Duties also include project management of assigned facility sustainment, restoration and modernization projects, creation of project documentation to establish scope and estimates for projects and development of Architect/Engineer design support contracts.The incumbent will be required to perform technical document management, constructability reviews, exterior architecture planning and the hiring of subordinates when required and authorized to support branch functions.
