The Company

Established for 50 years this company is a £50m turnover Civil Engineering Contractor, who work on projects throughout the North West, from Preston down to Stoke, with a high percentage in the Liverpool, Manchester, Warrington areas. They provide specialist groundwork packages of work covering all aspects of foundations and roads & sewers.

The Assistant Quantity Surveyor Role

Focusing on groundwork related subcontract packages, predominantly for residential housing projects, you will be form part of an established team responsible for the commercial aspects of multiple projects. You will work closely with more experienced Quantity Surveyors and mentoring and training will be provided.

Key Responsibilities:

Prepare cost estimates, budgets, and valuations for groundworks, plot works, remediation, and bulk earthworks.

Monitor and control project costs, ensuring value for money and identifying any cost-saving opportunities.

Collaborate closely with the project and site teams to ensure accurate measurement and valuation of work on-site.

Manage subcontractor payments and variations, providing accurate forecasting and financial reporting.

Support the project team in remediation and bulk earthworks, ensuring adherence to project timelines and budgets.

Maintain strong relationships with clients, subcontractors, and suppliers.

The Successful Assistant Quantity Surveyor

Previous experience within groundworks.

Knowledge of plot works, remediation, and bulk earthworks.

Strong financial acumen and understanding of cost control and management processes.

Excellent communication and negotiation skills.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a proactive approach to problem-solving.
