SUMMARY
BCC Engineering is currently seeking a Roadway Design Intern to join our Roadway team in Orlando, FL for Summer 2025. This position emphasizes design and plan set preparation on technically challenging projects. Working as part of our Orlando Roadway Design Team, you will take part on various Roadway Design projects. Under the supervision of a licensed engineer, analyze and prepare designs, calculations and drawings for a wide range of public and private sector projects
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Provide drafting and design assistance for a wide variety of projects, from report stage through design and construction administration
- Become familiar with engineering plans and specifications and assigned software
- Follow production guidelines and project standards in the department drafting standards manual
- Approach tasks with an open mindset
- Perform field work under direction of others
- Collect and prepare data for evaluation
- May occasionally interpret general designs prepared by engineers or designers to complete minor details
- Coordinate with other technicians, designers, and engineers to complete details and ensure a cohesive design
- Ensure timely completion of time sheets and expense reports
- Take ownership of personal career development by seeking and providing feedback, seizing opportunities to develop new skills, and setting and pursuing personal goals
COMPETENCIES
- Proficient, or ability to quickly become proficient in applicable engineering design software
- Proficient in full suite of Microsoft Office programs and Adobe Acrobat
- Takes pride in delivering creative design solutions accurately and efficiently
- Demonstrated ability to clearly communicate and cooperate with engineers and designers
- Ability to perform in a fast-paced team environment; self-motivated and possesses excellent time management and organizational skills
- Maintains a positive attitude and collaborative spirit
- Takes pride in delivering quality work-product with minimal revisions required
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Pursuing a degree in a relevant STEM field
- Must possess excellent technical and communication skills
