Job Details
The Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering (CEE) at Colorado State University (CSU) seeks a dynamic leader to become the founding Director of a new Bachelor of Science (BS) degree program in Construction Engineering. The position is a full-time appointment and is expected to be at the level of associate or full professor with tenure in the CEE Department.
Colorado State University is seeking to establish a top-ranked Construction Engineering program, in partnership with industry leaders and with enthusiastic support from university leadership. Through strong collaboration between the Walter Scott, Jr. College of Engineering (WSCOE) and the College of Health and Human Sciences (CHHS), the program leverages existing strengths in the CEE and Construction Management (CM) Departments. The program will confer an ABET-accredited BS degree program in Construction Engineering, welcoming the first cohort of students starting fall 2025.
Thoughtfully designed to create a premier program valued by both students and industry, the CSU Construction Engineering program will have a competitive advantage above peer institutions with expert faculty and industry participation, dedicated staff, and innovative learning spaces, all of which are crucial to success. Key to establishing a top program, a robust student support program will recruit and retain the right students who will fuel the workforce pipeline and develop into future industry leaders.
Responsibilities:
The Program Director will lead the Construction Engineering program, including supporting the recruitment of students, faculty and staff; managing program curriculum and accreditation; developing strategic partnerships with the construction industry and other stakeholders; overseeing program budget; supervising staff; and fostering close collaboration between Construction Engineering and CM. The Director will work closely with an industry advisory group, Heads of both the CEE and CM Departments, and the Deans of both WSCOE and the CHHS to launch and grow a leading BS in Construction Engineering degree.
As a tenured faculty member in WSCOE, the Director will teach relevant undergraduate and graduate courses that prepare students to pursue a career in the construction and engineering industry, develop and maintain an independent and nationally recognized research program that is supported by external funding, work with student organizations, participate in graduate student advisement, integrate relevant research expertise into current and new academic courses, direct student research, and participate in service and development activities in support of the program, Department, College and University. The establishment of a research program at CSU will also build upon the existing collaborative Ph.D. in Civil and Environmental Engineering with a focus on Construction Engineering and Management. Additional information about the program can be found at https://www.engr.colostate.edu/ce/graduate/construction-engineering-and-management/.
Salary and Benefits:
Associate Professor $140,000-$160,000 Full Professor $160,000-$180,000 for a nine-month appointment, commensurate with qualifications and experience. An additional month of salary coverage will be provided to the Director of the Construction Engineering degree program for as long as the individual holding this position serves in this capacity.
