Job Title: Principal Structural Engineer - Utilities
Location: Manchester
Salary: £60,000 - £70,000 per annum plus package (negotiable subject to experience)
Start Date: ASAP
A global civil engineering firm is seeking to appoint an innovative structural engineer with a genuine bias for sustainability to join permanently and take lead in the delivery of high-level structural input to major projects across a portfolio of frameworks in the water sector. You will be an integral member of the senior team in developing structural knowledge and capabilities and guiding the development of junior engineers.
This is a full-time permanent position based in the Manchester area, offering flexible working arrangements to suit your needs. Previous experience in leading structural design within water or energy sector is imperative.
Responsibilities:
Lead and execute the structural design of concrete, steel, and masonry structures, ensuring compliance with industry standards and best practices.
Conduct detailed structural inspections and prepare comprehensive reports outlining the necessary maintenance and modifications to align with client and regulatory requirements.
Leverage experience in the Water or Energy sectors to deliver sector-specific solutions, enhancing project outcomes and client satisfaction.
Demonstrate expertise in structural design while possessing a sound understanding of civil and geotechnical engineering, with a working awareness of mechanical and electrical engineering to facilitate cross-disciplinary collaboration.
Utilize advanced structural engineering software such as Staad.PRO, Robot Structures, or any similar FEM analysis tools, while maintaining proficiency in a 3D design environment.
Maintain consistent communication with the delivery team, ensuring project milestones are met
Requirements:
Degree qualified in Engineering.
Hold a chartered status with a relevant professional body e.g. ICE, CIWEM beneficial
Minimum of 5 years' experience in the water or energy sector.
Technically minded with credible knowledge and experience in mechanical and electrical engineering (water/energy)
Proficient in coaching junior engineer, communication (both written and verbal), and interpersonal skills.
