Role: Civil Engineers / Structural Engineers (various levels of experience) - Hinkley 'C' Nuclear Power Station project
Location: North-West Bristol, close to M4/M5 junction or Hinkley 'C' site near Bridgwater, Somerset (3 days/week in the office, with the remainder worked from home)
Salary: £35000 - £70000 + excellent benefits
Start: October 2024 onwards
An exciting opportunity exists for Civil and Structural Engineers specialising in the design and analysis of large concrete and/or steel structures, as well as knowledge of relevant codes and standards (in particular Eurocodes) to work in support of EDF's Hinkley 'C' nuclear power station construction project.
The position will be based 3 days/week in the office, with the remainder worked from home.
Whilst previous nuclear industry experience would be useful, this is not essential - prior experience in the design and analysis of other large structures (in particular for regulated industries (e.g. oil and gas, power station, petrochemical, chemical) would be very happily accepted.
Main Activities
Maintaining clients QA procedures in delivering the SW design
Working with the CAD designers in the preparation of the design drawings/models
Managing engineering changes in line with company proceduresResolving identified technical issues
Receive, analyse and verify the consistency of the input data
Produces the deliverables for which they are responsible (assumption notes, technical specifications, calculation notes)
Coordinate CAD Design and perform design activities for fastenings and anchorages in concrete
Develop substantiation reports and complete surveillance of applicable technical documents
Qualifications and Experience
Knowledge/understanding of the Eurocodes related to civil engineering and especially knowledge of the design of fastenings and anchorages in concrete.
Knowledge of the design of reinforced concrete and pre-stressed concrete structures
Design of seismically classified steel platforms and structures from concept to detailed design delivery
Use of 3D modelling and structural analysis tools
Knowledge / Understanding of PWRs would be an advantage
An understanding of relevant Health and Safety regulations
Experience in the nuclear sector and plant layout engineering would be advantageous
