Position: Site Supervisor - Civil Engineering & Groundworks
Location: Manchester
Salary & Benefits: £41,600 + Van & Fuel Card

Key Responsibilities:
Site Supervision:
Oversee and manage civil engineering projects, including earthworks, drainage, road construction, utility installations and general groundwork.
Ensure that all work is carried out in compliance with approved plans, standards and specifications.
Supervise on-site teams, including direct employees and subcontractors.
Monitor daily site activities, progress and resolve issues that may arise on-site.
Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) Compliance:
Enforce strict adherence to health and safety protocols on site as per UK regulations.
Conduct site inspections, risk assessments and toolbox talks to ensure a safe working environment.
Address any environmental concerns, ensuring the project minimises its impact on the environment.
Maintain appropriate documentation for health and safety audits.
Project Coordination:
Coordinate with the Site Manager and other relevant stakeholders to ensure smooth project execution.
Plan and schedule daily activities to meet project deadlines.
Manage site logistics, including the delivery of materials and deployment of resources.
Liaise with clients, consultants, and regulatory bodies to ensure project requirements are met.
Quality Control:
Ensure that all construction activities meet the required quality standards.
Conduct regular site inspections to verify the quality of workmanship and materials.
Identify any defects or issues and work to rectify them quickly.
Keep accurate records of work completed and ensure compliance with contractual obligations.
Team Management:
Supervise a team of construction workers and subcontractors.
Allocate tasks, manage workloads, and ensure that deadlines are met.
Provide training and support to team members as needed.
Evaluate the performance of team members and address any issues of productivity or conduct.
Documentation and Reporting:
Maintain site diaries, records of progress, and relevant project documentation.
Report on project status to Site Managers or Project Managers.
Ensure compliance with CDM (Construction Design and Management) regulations.
Record and manage changes to project scope, ensuring proper authorisation.
Budget Control:
Assist in managing project costs, ensuring work is completed within the agreed budget.
Monitor the usage of resources to avoid wastage and inefficiencies.
Identify potential cost-saving measures without compromising on quality or safety.
Key Skills and Competencies:
Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of civil engineering principles, construction methodologies, and UK building regulations.
Leadership Skills: Ability to manage, motivate, and supervise construction teams.
Communication: Excellent communication skills, able to liaise effectively with clients, contractors, and other stakeholders.
Problem Solving: Quick decision-making and problem-solving abilities to handle unexpected site challenges.
Organisation: Strong planning and organisational skills to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
Attention to Detail: Ensure quality and compliance with technical specifications and safety regulations.
Qualifications and Experience:
Essential:
Proven experience in civil engineering site supervision or management.
360 Excavator ticket.
Strong understanding of UK health and safety regulations.
Experience in managing teams and coordinating site activities.
Full, clean driving licence.
CSCS (Construction Skills Certification Scheme) card.
SMSTS (Site Management Safety Training Scheme) or SSSTS (Site Supervisor Safety Training Scheme) certificate.
Desirable:
First Aid at Work certification.
Experience with project management software.
Knowledge of CDM (Construction Design and Management) regulations.
Working Conditions:
Primarily based on construction sites, which may involve working outdoors in all weather conditions.
