The Role:
We are looking for a Principal Geotechnical Engineer to support a busy civil and structural engineering team. You'll be involved in delivering geotechnical expertise across various UK-wide projects. This position offers an exciting opportunity for a driven professional to lead, mentor, and foster a positive and successful team environment.
Responsibilities:
Take charge of geotechnical projects, collaborating with civil and structural teams
Serve as the company's representative in Design Team Meetings, offering expert advice
Supervise, review, and guide junior staff members in geotechnical design and analysis
Prepare project costings and quotations for geotechnical services
Design foundations (both ULS and SLS), as well as soil retaining structures and ground reinforcements
Conduct ground improvement assessments, earthwork designs, and slope/settlement analysis
Use specialized geotechnical software to deliver precise design solutions.
Development of GIRs/ GDRs and GFRs
Ensure strong commercial and contractual awareness to maintain project efficiency Requirements:
Degree in Geotechnical engineering or similar relevant qualification
7-10 years+ of post-graduate experience in geotechnical engineering
Proven ability to lead projects and act as a trusted point of contact in client settings
Experience in overseeing and reviewing the work of less experienced colleagues
Competence in foundation design, ground improvements, and earthworks assessments
Ability to produce high-quality technical reports and presentations
Proficiency in geotechnical analysis software for designing and assessing settlements, slopes, and retaining structures
