Principal/Associate Geotechnical Engineer
Cambridge
£50-65k DOE
Our client has an excellent opportunity for an existing Principal Geotechnical Engineer looking for a new challenge with a successful ground investigation company, or for an experienced Senior Engineer looking for the next step and to move into a position of management in a growing company. The right person at Associate level is also a possibility.
As an experienced geotechnical professional you will lead the geotechnical team operating from the Cambridge office on a range of ground investigation projects across East Anglia, the East Midlands and further afield. The company provide specialist information on ground conditions for projects in a range of sectors (commercial and residential developments, healthcare, education, energy, infrastructure, highways, flood alleviation and community projects).
You would typically have a Masters degree in a relevant subject, at least ten years' relevant experience in geotechnical site investigation and be competent in contaminated land assessment, hold a full UK driving license, have excellent skills communicating with colleagues and clients (both written and verbal), and experience as a line manager. Candidates could be a chartered geologist or working towards chartership, and be well-practiced with routine geotechnical assessments (e.g. providing foundation recommendations, advice on suitable ground improvement and earthworks methods, slope stability and settlement modelling).
The role will be mainly office based, but can include a mixture of client meetings, site supervision and networking. The role will include the specification, operation, management and interpretation of geotechnical and geoenvironmental investigations, tendering for projects and frameworks, and working with the senior management team to continue the planned growth of the business
