General Foreman - Civil Engineering (Sizewell C, Leiston, Suffolk)
Location: Sizewell C, Leiston, Suffolk

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a General Foreman to join our team at Sizewell C, Leiston, Suffolk.
As a General Foreman, you will be responsible for ensuring that civil engineering works, including earthworks, drainage, communication ducts, and pavement construction, are executed safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards. You will manage both direct labour and specialist subcontractors, delivering a variety of general civil engineering work packages within a high-profile, Tier 1 environment.
To be considered, you will come from a Civil Engineering background with strong knowledge of civil engineering works. A full UK driving licence is required, as travel between sites is necessary.
Key Responsibilities:
* Ensure operatives and subcontractors are assigned work in a safe and controlled manner.
* Manage site logistics to ensure smooth operations.
* Conduct inductions and assess the competencies of new site inductees.
* Contribute to the creation of Work Package Plans, Risk Assessments, Task Briefing Sheets, and toolbox talks.
* Recommend Temporary Works solutions and contribute to Temporary Works Coordination (TWC).
* Proactively identify potential hazards and implement appropriate actions and controls.
* Ensure that plant and small tools are adequately maintained and inspected before use.
* Verify plant suitability for specific tasks and maintain accurate records of plant and equipment registers, including PUWER & LOLER files.
* Monitor the performance of plant operators and appointed persons.
* Actively seek opportunities to improve safety standards across the site.
* Ensure workforce/Gangers have sufficient and correct information regarding specifications, workmanship, and finish.
* Monitor work quality using checksheets and promote a "right first time" culture.
* Contribute to the weekly programme and monitor progress against key dates with the Project Manager/Site Agent.
* Ensure the appropriate allocation of resources to each work activity and work to improve efficiency.
* Assess material wastage allowances and implement corrective actions.
* Be aware of the project scope and highlight risks related to potential commercial impacts.
Experience, Skills, and Qualifications:
* Proven experience in general civil engineering works, ideally within a highways environment.
* Experience managing direct labour and plant.
* A successful track record of project delivery on time, within budget, and to high-quality standards.
* Valid UK driving licence.
* CSCS Card.
* SMSTS (Site Management Safety Training Scheme).
* TWS (Temporary Works Supervisor) certification.
* Computer literate with good IT skills.
* First Aider and Fire Marshall certifications (desirable).
* Fit for work medical (or safety-critical medical) (desirable).
