What's Involved?

As a Senior Civil Engineer at Saith Ltd, you will lead the planning, management, and technical execution of complex civil engineering projects across the UK. This role includes leading project teams, mentoring junior engineers, and maintaining client relationships to ensure the highest standards of project delivery, client engagement, and regulatory compliance.

We would love to hear from you if you:
  • A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil Engineering.
  • A minimum of 8 years in a senior civil engineering role.
  • Chartered Engineer (CEng) status with the Engineering Council UK.
  • Proficiency in advanced CAD tools and project management software.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and strategic thinking skills.
  • A full UK driving licence.
  • Experience of UK gas industry design standards and processes would be beneficial.
  • Experience in other sectors such as electricity transmission or renewable energy projects, is considered beneficial.


Main Duties and Responsibilities
  • Project Leadership: Lead the planning, design, and delivery of complex civil engineering projects, ensuring they meet quality, time, and budget expectations.
  • Technical Oversight: Prepare and supervise detailed designs, engineering calculations, specifications, and reports to comply with relevant standards and client needs.
  • Team Supervision: Manage, mentor, and oversee the work of multidisciplinary teams; review and approve technical documents produced by others.
  • Client and Stakeholder Engagement: Serve as the primary contact for clients, leading meetings, presentations, and maintaining effective communication to ensure project alignment with client expectations.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure adherence to UK regulatory requirements, including CDM 2015, BS, and Eurocodes; implement safe design practices.
  • Quality Control and Audits: Establish and maintain quality assurance measures; conduct technical audits to ensure projects meet internal and client quality standards.
  • Documentation and Systems Management: Oversee the use of company document management systems, ensuring accurate record-keeping and continuous process improvement.
  • Training and Development: Provide coaching and professional development opportunities for junior engineers; promote knowledge sharing and technical growth within the team.
  • Health and Safety Leadership: Advocate and enforce compliance with Saith Ltd's Health and Safety policies, ensuring safety considerations are embedded in project designs.
  • Strategic Contribution: Contribute to business strategy by identifying growth opportunities in new sectors such as electricity transmission or renewable energy.
  • Innovation and Problem Solving: Drive innovative solutions and problem-solving approaches to overcome complex engineering challenges.
  • Resource Management: Manage and allocate resources effectively, balancing workload distribution and project priorities to optimise team performance.
  • Cross-Discipline Coordination: Facilitate collaboration across different engineering disciplines to integrate various project components seamlessly.
  • Continuous Improvement: Lead initiatives aimed at improving internal processes and promoting best practices to enhance the company's technical offering.
  • Succession Planning: Contribute to career development plans for the engineering team and support efforts to build future leadership within the department.
