Essential:
What you will be doing:
Liaising with the clients Environment team (across disciplines including generalists, ecologists, arboriculturists, landscape, carbon, noise), Highway Designers, Programme Delivery team and their respective client, National Highways.
Leading the team weekly resourcing and progress meetings;
Monitoring the contract inbox, responding to/forwarding queries as required, and maintaining the scheme delivery tracker with new information received;
Reviewing new task briefs and producing fee proposals in line with NH requirements;
Contributing to the preparation of bids and the general work winning function;
Inputting to programmes, attending progress meetings, coordinating site work;
Managing the change process, raising early warning notifications (EWNs) and compensation events (CEs) where required;
Monitoring progress and taking responsibility for delivery of reports on time;
Supporting the client with managing workload across the team.
Keeping up to date with industry best practice.
The preferred staff member will be required to operate unsupervised, seeking minimal advice and direction from more senior colleagues only when necessary, and mentoring junior members of staff.
Desirable:
An undergraduate degree in Environmental Science or similar/equivalent subject;
Experience of project management, ideally gained from managing environmental projects in the transport sector (highways experience is desirable);
Membership of a professional body or relevant qualifications/experience leading to membership (e.g. IEMA, IES, APM or similar);
Experience working in a multi-disciplinary environment interacting with all environmental disciplines as well as design teams, clients, and stakeholders;
Experience of contract management (e.g. CEMAR) is desirable;
Ability to manage budgets, resourcing, and plan workload, ensuring project stages are delivered on time and on budget;
Strong written and verbal communication skills and the aptitude to rationally explain, explore and discuss environmental issues, capture feedback, and manage environmental risks;
Experience using Microsoft packages - MS Project and Excel are essential;
Excellent communication and presentation skills required;
Forward thinking and interested in developing efficient and pragmatic ways of working with teams to realize client and operational objectives; and
Demonstrable experience of working in a collaborative or joint venture environment is highly desirable.
