New York University, one of the largest and most highly regarded private universities, is seeking to add several contract and tenured/tenure-track faculty members to its Department of Civil and Urban Engineering in the Tandon School of Engineering, previously known as Brooklyn Poly or Polytechnic Institute/University.
Structural Engineering, Tenure-Track: This is a FT tenured or tenure-track faculty position at the rank of Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor, depending on experience. The focus of this position is at the intersection of civil engineering and urban science, with the position being a joint appointment between the Center for Urban Science and Progress (CUSP) and the CUE department. We seek candidates interested in fostering a highly interdisciplinary and collaborative environment for teaching and research, who can contribute to methods and foundational knowledge in their disciplines with a strong focus on high-impact urban applications and with an expertise related to structures, infrastructure or structural health monitoring. Structural Engineering, Contract: This is a FT renewable non-tenured, faculty position at the rank of Industry Assistant or Associate Professor. Candidates with a Structural Engineering (SE) license are strongly encouraged to apply. Teaching experience with evidence of teaching excellence is required. Applicants must have earned a doctoral degree in Civil Engineering and a Professional Engineering (PE) license with 5 years of industry experience; alternatively, candidates with an MS in Structural Engineering and 15 years of structural design experience will also be considered. The ability to teach courses that integrate computing, machine learning, and their applications in civil engineering is also desirable. Construction Engineering & Management, Contract: This is a FT renewable non-tenured, faculty position at the rank of Industry Associate Industry Professor or Industry Professor depending on the candidate’s education, professional experience, and industry achievements. The position will initially focus on teaching, curriculum development, and mentoring undergraduate and graduate students, with opportunities for participating in research. Over time, the successful candidate will take on leadership responsibilities for managing and directing all aspects of the CUE Construction Management programs. The ideal candidate will hold a PhD and have substantial experience as a licensed professional in the construction industry.
