MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering.

EXPERIENCE: Four or more years of responsible professional civil engineering experience, including experience with public works projects and three years of supervisory experience.

EXPERIENCE: Possession of a current Professional Civil Engineer License in California.

THE POSITION

The Senior Engineer will serve as a key member of the City’s Public Works/Engineering Department and is tasked to lead and manage multiple transformative projects that enhance the quality of life for the residents of the City of Eastvale.

In this role, you will oversee the planning, design, and construction of complex capital improvement projects, including transportation, drainage, and public infrastructure. You’ll manage budgets, schedules, and resources, ensuring timely and cost-effective delivery while maintaining the highest standards. Acting as a technical expert and liaison, you’ll collaborate with city leadership, developers, and contractors, while collaborating with a talented team of engineers.

With Eastvale’s focus on innovation, sustainability, and community-driven development, the Senior Engineer will play a critical role in shaping the future of Eastvale by contributing to the development of the city’s highly anticipated downtown. Downtown Eastvale will be the heart of the community, featuring vibrant public spaces that foster a thriving hub for both residents and businesses.

Key Responsibilities Include:

• Support the long-term vision for Downtown Eastvale & Civic Center, including key facilities such as the City Hall, Public Library, Fire Station, Police Substation, and Lifestyle Center.

• Plan, manage, and oversee the design, construction, and delivery of complex Capital Improvement Projects.

• Develop project budgets, schedules, and resource plans to ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget.

• Provide technical expertise by preparing engineering plans, studies, and reports that align with city standards and industry best practices.

• Coordinate and collaborate with developers, contractors, and stakeholders to resolve challenges and ensure project success.

• Foster strong relationships across departments, the community, and external partners to achieve strategic goals.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE

The City of Eastvale is seeking a dynamic, experienced professional with strong collaborative leadership skills and demonstrated expertise in all areas of municipal government to support the City’s Engineering & Public Works initiatives. They will play a key role in the planning stages of projects, from preparing engineering specifications to determining cost and quantity estimates. The Senior Engineer manages multiple projects concurrently, oversees project budgets and schedules, prepares and provides project updates, and provides technical direction to staff. The ideal candidate must have the ability to thrive and achieve in a dynamic fast-paced team-centric environment and must demonstrate many of the following personal and professional attributes;

Extensive knowledge of civil engineering principles, project management, and infrastructure delivery. Proven leadership skills to manage engineering teams and oversee complex projects. COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

The annual salary range for this position is from $127,609 - $159,637 (Increasing to $132,076 - $164,944 on July 1, 2025 and increasing again to $136,698 - $170,717 on July 1, 2026). Salary will be negotiated based on the candidate’s experience and qualifications.

The salary will be supported by a benefits package including:

  • CalPERS Retirement: Classic members formula is 2% at 60 with a contribution of 7%, while PEPRA members have a formula of 2% at 62 and a contribution of 7.75%.
  • Cafeteria Benefit Allowance: The City offers a monthly benefit allowance of $2,612.57 to pay for medical, dental, and vision premiums as well as health and dependent flexible spending accounts. Employees deferring medical with the City may cash out up-to $800 monthly.
    • Medical - HMO and PPO options are available.
    • Dental - Provided through Ameritas.
    • Vision - Provided through VSP.
  • Deferred Compensation: The City offers a 200% Employer match up to $3,000 annually. If an employee defers $1,500, the City will match them $3,000.
  • Health Reimbursement Account: The City will contribute to a Health Reimbursement account to help pay for healthcare expenses after retirement. Contributions start after 5 years of continuous service at $100 per month with a maximum of $200 per month after 25 years of continuous service.
  • Life Insurance and AD&D: Two times annual salary with a minimum of $100,000 and a maximum of $400,000.
  • Long Term and Short-Term Disability: The City participates in a private sector program through Lincoln Financial Group rather than the State of California’s Disability Insurance Program.
  • Paid Parental Leave: The City offers wage replacement of $3,500 for up to 12-weeks for eligible parental leave.
  • Management Leave: Eighty (80) hours per year for Management Team members.
  • Bilingual Pay: $150/month for select employees.
  • Auto-Allowance: $400/month for select management employees.
  • 4/10 Work Schedule: Monday - Thursday
  • Eleven (11) Paid Holidays
  • One (1) Floating Holiday
