We are seeking an experienced
Structural Engineer
On a part-time, self-employed basis, to help our small, friendly but very busy architectural and structural engineering practice, based in North Yorkshire.
Part-time, Freelance
£35.00 per hour
Expected hours: 16 - 24 per week
We focus on small to medium sized residential and commercial projects in all areas of the UK. Our portfolio is very varied, ranging from simple structural openings to extensions, refurbishment and new build projects.
The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, analysing and preparing structural calculations for each project to current standards and codes. This role requires a strong foundation in structural engineering principles and proficiency in industry-standard software.
The successful candidate would be working out of our office in North Yorkshire but will also be expected to be able to work from home at certain periods. Equipment and software can be provided if necessary. Own transport is essential as we are based in a rural location.
Only UK based applicants will be considered due to the location of the role.

Duties
- Design and prepare structural calculations for a variety of residential projects.
- Experience in timber, steel, masonry and reinforced concrete design essential.
- Conduct structural analysis using latest Tedds & Quikframe software.
- Help with preparation of detailed structural drawings and specifications on AutoCAD.
- Experience in preparing general arrangement drawings, surveys, planning and construction packages on Autocad to help with our workload would be beneficial (but not essential).
Experience
- An HNC or Degree in Structural Engineering or a related field is essential.
- Minimum IMIStructE membership with The Institute of Structural Engineers or above.
- Proven experience in structural engineering with a strong portfolio of completed projects.
- Strong communication skills to collaborate with our team.
