Job Brief: Vertical Transportation Engineer
Location: Battersea, London
Company: Foster + Partners
Foster + Partners is seeking Vertical Transportation Engineers (from Engineer to Associate level) to join our multidisciplinary engineering team in London. This is an exciting opportunity to work on large-scale, international projects within a dynamic and collaborative environment.
Key Responsibilities:
* Develop vertical transportation (VT) design strategies for various building types.
* Conduct lift traffic analysis using computerised simulation software (e.g., ELEVATE, Adsimulo).
* Design and specify lifts, moving walkways, and escalator systems.
* Produce calculations, schematics, models, reports, and specifications.
* Manage tender specifications and drawing production.
* Lead or contribute to meetings with clients, project teams, and contractors.
* Ensure compliance with international regulations, UK building codes, and industry standards.
Required Skills & Experience:
* Degree-qualified in a relevant engineering discipline.
* Chartered Engineer status (or working towards it).
* Strong technical understanding of VT systems, including manufacturer offerings.
* Proficiency in AutoCAD, MicroStation, Autodesk Revit, ELEVATE, Adsimulo, and Microsoft Office.
* Familiarity with standards such as ISO, BS, EN, NFPA, China GB, and CIBSE Guide D.
* Experience in tender documentation preparation and evaluation.
* Excellent communication and leadership skills.
Desirable Skills:
* International project experience.
* LEED qualification or knowledge of environmental assessment methods.
* Experience with Adobe Creative Cloud, Rhino, and Grasshopper (training provided if needed).
* Multilingual abilities.
Job Details:
* Hours: Monday to Friday, 09:00 AM - 06:00 PM.
* Work Setup: Full-time, office-based in Battersea, London.
