Wood is currently seeking to hire a 3D Process and Piping Designer for our Regional Design Center in Phoenix, Arizona.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • The Piping / Process Designer is primarily responsible for the preparation of 3D modeling of equipment and piping systems using Revit, Autodesk 3D applications, and Cawdor design software
  • Will develop equipment location drawings, detailed piping drawings and isometric drawings
  • Work closely with a project Process / Mechanical / or Civil Engineer, a multi - discipline design team, and project manager and will be responsible for supporting the design and production of Process Piping construction documents related to Drinking Water, Wastewater, and Industrial Water Clients (such as mining)
  • Provide process equipment layout, integration, and specification services for customer related projects
  • Implement vendor supplied models and create models where required for integration into system drawings
  • Work with engineers to develop P&IDs and prepare process piping layouts based on P&IDs
  • Required to develop full sets of construction drawings from a BIM model or other 3D design software such as Revit MEP, AutoCAD MEP, AutoCAD Plant 3D, Cad Worx, or E3D
  • Comparing design basis documents to the final work products; acting as a reference for technical piping design best practices
  • Implement BIM execution plans, planning and guiding the production of 3D and BIM models, leadership of model development, and coordination with BIM Manager to ensure compliance with project requirements and Wood standards
  • May be requested to mentor junior staff in Process Piping design

Skills / Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Associate degree related to BIM or drawing production or significant experience required
  • 10+ years of experience in piping design and 3D modeling, with industrial water or municipal water / wastewater experience required
  • Strong understanding of process design concepts including process equipment, piping layouts, flanges, valves and fittings, pipe supports, P&IDs, piping isometrics, and pipe stress analysis
  • Proficiency in Revit and Autodesk MEP is a must
  • Experience with 3D scanning using Point Cloud
  • Prior experience with pipe walk - downs, field walk - downs and field piping isometric sketches
  • Working knowledge of the development of piping systems, their operability and constructability; knowledge of the selection of materials for corrosion resistance and / or compatibility
  • Knowledge of national piping standards, material and dimensional standards, including ASME B31.3
  • Possess strong communication and coordination skills, and should be self - motivated and detail oriented, with an initiative to deliver high quality, technically excellent Process designs
  • Must pass drug test, background check, physical and must have a satisfactory driving record in accordance with the Company's driving (MVR) policy

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Preference given to candidates local to Phoenix, Arizona
  • Autodesk Navisworks experience desired
  • Autodesk MEP experience desired
  • Autodesk BIM360 experience desired
  • Autodesk Plant 3D / P&ID experience desired
  • Autodesk Civil 3D experience a plus
  • Cad Worx experience a plus
  • Aviva E3D experience a plus
  • LiDAR (3D scanning) and Point Cloud experience desired
